Good Access is Good Business
Making Your Business Accessible
Guidelines
Here are six technical guidelines to get started:

-
Must have an accessible entrance on an accessible route (near designated parking when applicable), with doors that open with minimal force and handles that are easy to grab.
-
Stairway entrances also need ramp options, which must be a minimum of 36 inches wide and have a maximum slope of 1:12.
-
Door frames must be a minimum of 32 inches, all doors should have lever handles.
-
Hallways and aisleways should be clear of obstacles and wide enough for wheelchair access, a minimum of 36 inches wide.
-
Restrooms should have accessible stalls with grab bars along the back and side of toilet, and should have a sink that can be rolled under with faucets that can be easily operated and reached.
-
Ordering counters and registers should be no higher than 38 inches off the ground.

Please note this is not an exhaustive list. It is recommended to complete the ADA checklists below for a comprehensive list of accessibility requirements.
